Northeast Bound
I am looking forward to being in the Northeast this month. Seeing family, friends and fans in my native stomping grounds is always refreshing. It's uplifting to see you when we do connect, so drop me a line and let me know if I should be looking for you at any particular show. Folk DJ Showcasing Thursday night
The Northeast Regional Folk Alliance conference will be happening in Kerhonkson, NY, mid-Nov, and it's a wonderful gathering of all sorts of folk musicians and interested presenters, etc. Nerfa is a 3 day event, with seemingly endless performances, shared meals, workshops, panel discussions, the making of new friends and seeing old ones, jamming and general yucking it up. There is still time to register, too, if your interest is piqued! You will meet many great folks, hear tons of very cool music and have a good time, promise.
I thank Wanda Fischer, of WAMC Public Radio in Albany NY. 90.3, for sponsoring me in the very intimate and lovely dj showcase which will take place Thursday night. This particular showcase feels very cozy and I have been introduced to many stellar musicians in it in the past, so I am honored and grateful to have a spot this year.
Winter Solstice Shows
It's just about time for Strawberry Rune's well loved show, "Soulstice Celebrations", a winter seasonal based around old English and Celtic carols, winter songs, African -American Gospel, folk songs and occasional tales. The music is both familiar and obscure, secular and religious, illuminating the darkness and warming the audience with rich tones and timeless themes of hope, strength, love and light. "It's a green light show", says one fan.
We would like to add a few more house concerts or public shows to the calendar, so let me know if you would like this in your home or hall.

Rolling and Tumbling House Concerts

Look for steam rising at the Rolling an Tumbling house concert, Nov 22, as the Terry Robb/Lauren Sheehan duo mix fire and water. Terry's burning guitar and Lauren's sparkling mandolin, his hot solos and her sandy blue vocals, and songs ranging from country blues to western swing, create a rare mix of vintage Americana music. Lauren describes the thrill of playing with Terry as "...my replacement for water ski jumping." There are many moods to this act though, ranging from saucy Memphis Minnie, to swinging Bob Wills, to down home Charlie Patton, all transformed in a unique artistic collaboration. We know Terry as one of the finest guitar pickers anywhere, and Lauren as back porch songster, but the energy that's created when they're stirred together is something else altogether. Listen for John Fahey in Terry's adventurous forays, and Howard Armstrong in Lauren's raucous mandolin harmonies, and groove to the deep roots of their music.
